The Bedlamite's Houses

You probably know that the Bedlamites all have somewhere to live while they're in Bedlam. But if you've ever wondered about their dwellings, such as where exactly they are, what they're called, or if they have a refrigerator, you've come to the right place! Here, you'll find the bios, if you will, of each Bedlamite's home. But first, check out this full map of Bedlam, for context. (Teacher says she was the one who drew it, but don't quote her on that.)

1. spaghetti estates: pasta and koko pasta's house

Pasta's house is an incredibly swanky Italian villa, complete with a balcony, a mezzanine, and a pool. Being the owner of the most success-ful circus, the most respected rest-aurant chain, and the most high-maintenance monkey in the region, he sort of needs a place this size. Oh, and, in his words, "it was the place with the biggest kitchen." That's always a plus.

Inside Spaghetti Estates, the decor is classy, modern enough to be stylish but retro enough to be comfortable, and all with a distinctly Venetian vibe. It has five mostly un-used bedrooms. (Pasta sleeps in one, but the rest stay empty unless he has company. Koko Pasta sleeps in the attic.) It also has three bathrooms, which are not un-used. Pasta (and his pet) value cleanliness above little else. Which does lead one to wonder why they both are usually quite odor-ous... Anyway, the house also contains a living room, a sun room, a game room, an in-ordinate number of closets, and, of course, a positively gigantic kitchen, which is where Pasta can usually be found. If he's not there, it either means he's sleeping or has turned Koko Pasta's superpower on and thrown him inside so he can clean it. It has a fridge.

2. Trickster's tree: trickster's house (obviously)

There's not a lot to say about this one. I mean, it's a tree, probably like an oak or something. Maybe a bay? A beech? *shrug* Blue Bear would know. All anyone else knows is that it's the biggest and nicest tree in the Park, which is (obviously) why Trickster chose it. He usually sleeps on a big branch over-looking a clover patch, but sometimes he switches branches just for a change of scenery. The tree doubles as his scratching post.

It does not have a refrigerator. (Trickster catches his fish fresh from the Pond.)

3. the banana box: mary's house

When Trickster built the Banana Box, he built it to Mary's exact specifications. Which might explain why it's so weird. There's a front door with a porch, but that door doesn't open; you have to go around to the one on the west wall. But the porch and patio furni-ture are all in front of the false front door. To prevent confusion, there's a sign above the door that reads, "DO NOT ENTER". There's also a coat rack. Outside the door.

The coolest thing about the house is the roof, which can slide away at the press of a button to provide entry from above. There's also a basketball hoop on the roof if any-one ever feels like a game.

The interior is slightly cramped, with two windows, two bedrooms, one bathroom, a small kitchen (with a refrigerator), and no din-ing room. Mary eats at a table in the middle of the hallway. She spends most of her time in the comparatively spacious living room, playing video games.

4. small's apartments: baby tiny and blue bear's house

Small's Apartments is a low-rise condominium and one of three apartment buildings in Bedlam. The others are Big's and Medium's apartments (very inventive names, right?).

Baby Tiny loves it because the prices are economic; Blue Bear loves it because it's blue; and both of them love it because the rooms are actually their size. They rented the apartments that are across from each other on the building's second floor. The third-floor apartments are rented out to small tourists when they come to Bedlam.

Baby Tiny has a lot of furniture that she likes to tote around with her wherever she goes. When she's not gallivanting around with her "mobile home", it's set up inside her apartment. The decor there is very homey, with lots of reds, pinks, and beiges. It has a refrigerator. (And also a legit peanut cart set up in the foyer.)

Blue Bear's apartment is decorated entirely in blue, from the carpet to the literal ceiling. (Who even paints their ceiling? Blue Bear, obviously.) Somehow, he got his paws on a blue toilet, a blue oven, a blue balcony railing, and even blue-tinted mirrors. It's no wonder he's so depressed... (Oh, and it does have a refrigerator. A blue one.)

5. cold snap: windy's house

Cold Snap is a very no-nonsense home for a very no-nonsense dog. It's a one-room house with drab grey walls inside and out, a single window, and a utilitarian garage-style door. There's no decor to speak of, and little furniture; just a dog bed, a couple of back-ups just in case Windy tears one up in his sleep, and a food dish. He keeps his food in a pile in one corner, his dog sledding trophies and medals in a pile in another corner, and his AC at forty degrees. It has no refrigera-tor. I mean, the place basically is a refrigerator.

6. big's apartments: Josiah's house

Big's Apartments is a swanky tri-plex that sacrifices price for comfort. Each apartment comes with a king-size bed, a jumbo corner bathtub, reclining faux leather couches, cable TV, secure wi-fi, and, of course, a refrigerator. Josiah rents one such apartment, and spends most of his time in the bed. Larger tourists usually stay in one of the other apart-ments, and though they can get noisy, Josiah doesn't care. I mean, he literally slept through a tornado one time. And he was inside it. This guy.

7. carrot corners: Teacher's house

Teacher lives in a big, bright orange dwelling that is so adorable, it looks like it really should be small. The backyard garden has even more floor-space than the house, and Teacher grows all of her vegetables here. She doesn't spend a lot of time at home; most of her waking hours are spent in her office at the Univer-sity, doing paperwork and grading tests. But when she does have some free time, her favorite things are working in her garden and eating the fruits--and vegetables--thereof. She keeps them in her refrigerator.

8. medium's apartments: ...no one's house?

Medium's Apartments, the other set of apart-ments in Bedlam, is a group of three cute two-story duplexes. No Bedlamite actually lives here; Mary wanted a house of her own, Tricks-ter is happy in his tree, and Koko Pasta would totally move out and put up here, but he's a pennyless bum. So, for now, the buildings re-main empty, to be occupied only occasionally by tourists. The interiors are very cottage-core in decoration, with lots of wicker and florals and potted plants. Each has two bedrooms, a bathroom, flower boxes in the windows, an adorable front stoop, and a sweet little kitchen (with a mini fridge).

9. the love nest: Baby bear's house

Baby Bear's house is adorable, heart-shaped, and insanely expensive to own. She didn't even realize how deep she was in debt when she moved in. But she got the bill in the mail after she'd ob-tained her superpower--the ability to kiss anything and turn it into something else--and ended up just kissing every dust bunny and piece of trash she could find and turning them into her house payment.

The outside of the Love Nest is cute, shiny, and mind-numbingly pink, and the inside is an even worse eyesore. Baby Bear is the farthest thing from an interior designer. Her couch cushions are each a different color, none of which match the rug, and there is a perpetual pile of love letters on her bedroom floor. She really needs to get a life... At least she does have a refrigerator.
